Methodology and data limitations
NationAnalytics presents stored country snapshots, comparisons, articles and exploratory calculators. Stored means saved in our dataset; it does not mean sourced, current or independently confirmed. Metric-level provenance is incomplete. Calculations can be reproducible while their inputs remain uncertain.
What the labels mean
- Reported
- Directly reproduced from an identified source with a proven value-level match and no material model transformation.
- Calculated
- Produced from documented inputs and a reproducible formula. This does not verify the inputs.
- Estimated
- An approximate result using modelling assumptions or incomplete information.
- Editorial
- Explanatory or qualitative text. This label does not establish its factual sources or a named author.
- Source unknown
- A legacy value whose origin has not been reliably established.
- Not available
- No usable value is presented; absence is not a measured zero.
Legacy narrative authorship is not established, so the Editorial definition must not be read as a claim that every existing paragraph has a verified human author.
Population, GDP and GDP per capita pilot
Population, GDP and GDP per capita pilot: United States, Canada, Australia, Germany and Sri Lanka, common reference year 2025. Other countries and metrics remain source unknown; all-country ordering is not a same-year comparison. All three are direct publisher observations; GDP per capita is not calculated locally. Sources and qualifications.
The latest non-empty observations returned for each of the fifteen country/indicator pairs were 2025, also their latest common year. Population is World Bank’s reported midyear estimate, including preliminary flags for Canada and Sri Lanka. GDP is in current US dollars, not PPP or constant prices. We copy raw numbers without scale conversion. Population labels divide by one million and round to one decimal; GDP labels divide by one billion or trillion and round to two decimals. The exact source number and year remain separately recorded. A rounded label is not an observation.
Other countries remain unreconciled. GDP per capita for the five pilot countries is copied directly from World Bank NY.GDP.PCAP.CD, in current US dollars per person; it is not locally derived from GDP and population. Those ratios were used only to check numerical consistency. Full source precision is retained; ordinary currency displays round to two decimals, while the economic snapshot can show up to three. Differences from the old unknown-year snapshot are not growth rates. Existing ordering uses raw stored values, so it can mix known and unknown reference periods. Consult each profile citation before comparing. Reported does not mean the publisher’s underlying estimate is exact or final.
Living costs: two different measures
The stored monthly estimate is an independent dataset value in USD/month, with undocumented household size, coverage and reference date. The modelled household total is a calculation from the listed components. Across 197 records, a one-person component sum differs from the stored total in 62 cases. Agreement would not prove either value correct.
Household model: 1-bedroom rent for 1–2 people; stored family rent for 3–6. Groceries × (0.8 × members) for households above one; transport × members; utilities × (1 + 0.25 × additional members); internet unchanged. Missing required costs prevent an estimate. This modelled component total is separate from the stored monthly estimate; neither validates the other. Only the listed components are included; other expenses and original component occupancy/reference dates are undocumented.
For one person, the model adds one-bedroom rent, groceries, transport, utilities and internet. It excludes any expense not in those five components; no insurance, childcare, leisure or other amount is automatically added. The household input supports 1–6 whole members as a technical model limit, not a population fact. Vatican City’s all-zero bundle is not evidence of free living and does not produce a calculator budget.
Missing data, zero and units
Missing, invalid or nonfinite numbers produce Not available instead of invented zero. A valid zero tax rate is usable; missing tax is not zero. Negative inflation remains valid. Missing ranks have no empty number badge. Empty lists and unavailable text get a readable missing state.
Required missing inputs prevent derived results. Numeric ranking helpers exclude unavailable observations; their current nonnegative metric lists also exclude negatives. This is not a rule for discarding valid negative inflation, which is displayed separately. Comparisons accept finite observations and leave missing results unavailable. Two-country comparisons treat differences within a relative tolerance of 0.000000001 as ties; missing data does not win.
Money is generally displayed in USD, not a live conversion to a country’s currency. Salary is monthly or annual as labelled; its gross/net basis and survey method are unknown. GDP and GDP per person are separate fields. Population/GDP display strings are separately stored rounded labels. Countries and metrics can have different unknown periods, price bases, populations and definitions, so direct comparisons may not be like-for-like.
Tax, salary and affordability estimates
Simplified estimate: gross income × the stored tax-rate assumption. Progressive brackets, deductions, allowances, social contributions, regional taxes and filing status are not modelled. Informational only, not tax advice.
Estimated net income is gross minus estimated tax. Annual estimated net income divided by 12 supplies the monthly income used in the cost-versus-income tool. Its surplus is monthly net minus modelled costs; its cost ratio is costs divided by positive monthly net. At zero net, the ratio is unavailable. Break-even gross is modelled monthly costs × 12 ÷ (1 − tax rate/100), unavailable at a 100% rate.
The salary-equivalent tool multiplies the entered salary by destination purchasing-power index divided by origin index. Both indices must be positive. Their reference base is undocumented; this is not currency exchange, official PPP conversion or a promised wage. The income-entry ceiling of 100 million is a technical safeguard.
Profession values are modelled from stored annual average salary, not surveyed occupation wages: Software Engineer × 1.8; Data Scientist × 1.6; Product Manager × 1.9; Accountant × 1.1.
Scores, rankings and comparisons
Stored safety, healthcare, education and livability scores have unknown source methodology. They are not probabilities or comprehensive assessments. Cost and purchasing-power indices may exceed 100 and have no proven reference base. University ranks need an edition, population and source; 131 stored ranks are null.
Named rankings sort the stated stored metric in its labelled direction. The cost-of-living category orders the stored monthly estimate; directory cost sorting uses the comparative cost index. Neither uses the household calculator sum. Position is not a measured score. Country comparisons use metric-specific higher/lower or neutral directions, and preserve ties; they are not personal recommendations. Geographic labels and the legacy Turkey/Türkiye pair have not been reconciled.
Internal score calculations
Only model outputs are rounded and bounded to 0–100. Salary score = monthly salary ÷ 7,200 × 100. Job-market estimate = 100 − 3 × unemployment percentage. These constants are model choices, not official thresholds.
Country score components: stored safety, healthcare, education; affordability = 130 − cost index; economy = GDP/person ÷ 80,000 × 100; migration = (10 − visa difficulty) × 10. Each component is rounded/bounded, then its weighted average is rounded/bounded. In that order, weights are balanced: 20, 20, 15, 20, 15, 10 percent; safety: 40, 25, 15, 10, 5, 5 percent; economy: 5, 10, 10, 20, 40, 15 percent.
Country matching scores budget, goal and region, then divides their sum by 75 and multiplies by 100 before rounding/bounding. Climate is not scored. Region uses simplified text matching: Europe; Asia/Oceania/Middle East; Americas; or any. A match adds 25; mismatch subtracts 20. Budget preference awards 25 below cost index 50, 15 below 60, otherwise −15. Mid-range awards 25 for 40–80, 20 below 40, otherwise −10. Luxury awards 25. Salary goal uses up to 25 points from monthly salary ÷ 7,000 × 25; safety uses score/100 × 25; nomad uses (livability − cost index/2)/150 × 25, bounded to 0–25. These broad heuristics are not suitability evidence.
Readiness starts at 100 − 7 × visa difficulty, with age, education, experience and matching-region bonuses, then rounds/bounds the result. The tool shows its factors. This is neither program eligibility nor approval probability. Stored migration text is not legal guidance; check the destination government’s current rules.
Narratives, weather and geographic coverage
Legacy descriptions, advantages, cautions, industry and migration text have no established factual attribution. Some narratives repeat across countries. Profile advantages/cautions are generated from threshold rules and missing data cannot trigger them; they are not independently researched advice. Twenty weather entries are update placeholders; they do not supply climate matching. Languages are stored but have no current country-profile display.
The site has 197 country route records, not a certified list of 197 sovereign states. Missing sources or overlapping geography can affect comparability. Safety, healthcare and education scores should not decide travel, treatment, study or relocation without primary-source research. Articles retain their stored publication dates, which do not establish the reference periods of their claims.
Responsibility, corrections and updates
NationAnalytics maintains this presentation and publishes articles under its site identity. No named expert authorship, specialist review, peer review or expert endorsement is claimed. Development attribution remains separate from statistical authorship.
There is no established quarterly update schedule or live statistical feed. New source links are research resources until an exact indicator, country, period, unit and observation can be reconciled. Source-page check dates are not data-update dates. Corrections require review and a later published release; no modification date is invented from a build or page visit.
Use Contact to identify the page and metric, explain the concern, and provide an official source and reference period. A suggested correction is evidence to evaluate, not an automatic replacement. These tools are informational, not financial, tax, legal, immigration, medical or employment advice.
